The School of Engineering is seeking applications from experienced academics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the field of Mechatronics / Robotics Engineering.
As a member of the School, you will have a significant opportunity to impact the areas of research, teaching, and community and industry engagement, all within a collaborative and supportive academic environment. You will collaborate closely with the Head of the School of Engineering as well as the Program Leader to cultivate a supportive and vibrant learning community, ensuring that our students receive exceptional educational experiences and support.
The candidate is expected to contribute primarily to the teaching of specialisation subjects in the key areas of Robotics and Flexible Automation, Applied topics in Mechatronics systems, Mechanical Engineering Design, Machine Dynamics, Engineering Design (mechatronics system design projects), in addition to fundamental subjects in Mechatronics such as Physics fundamentals, basic electronics. The candidate will be expected to significantly contribute to capstone and research projects that are directly related to Mechatronics / Robotics and thus must have proven experience that demonstrates practical skills in building such systems. The candidate is also expected to strengthen the program, integrating the latest breakthroughs in the field to ensure graduates have relevant skills and knowledge.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities:
• Prepare, deliver, and assess lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops.
• Develop and produce teaching materials, including technology-enhanced learning resources.
• Handle administrative tasks related to teaching, such as student consultations, marking, assessment, and quality assurance.
• Conduct and publish research; seek research funding.
• Supervise students’ capstone projects and contribute to reviews and continuous improvement of the discipline.
• Engage with industry and academic colleagues for collaborative research.
• Assist with student services, including recruitment, registration, onboarding, and support of students.
• Comply with all relevant UOWD policies and guidelines.
• Maintain balanced performance across academic responsibilities.
