Jordan

The baby of the group, wi-tribe Jordan, was launched on the 22 of June 2008 by one hundred proud local Jordanians who built and launched the tribe’s first Greenfield operation from the ground up.

The people of Jordan were offered a new solution; a new way of thinking and a new look on telecom operators. With wi-tribe’s innovative technology and dedicated customer care program, wi-tribe soon gained the trust of the Jordanian people and is now one of the top three broadband players in the Hashemite kingdom.

Efficient, reliable and hassle free service was first launched in West Amman and quickly spread to cover major cities including Irbid, Zarqa, Jerash, Madaba and Salt.

In line with the company’s aim to tailor offerings based on individual markets, Jordan benefits from wi-tribe’s 256Kbps, 512Kbps, 1.5Mbps and 3Mbps speeds and many value added services including extra gigabytes, routers and the latest BitDefender antivirus software.

wi-tribe Jordan is also an award winner, scooping up 6 awards at the 2009 Jordan Advertizing Awards in October 2009, including Gold for the Best Telecom Campaign received for its launch campaign ‘There’s something in the air’, Silver in both Best Giveaway and Best Radio Teaser Campaign, and Bronze for Best Radio Ad and Best Outdoor Ad for their playful “Internet is our game” campaign.

Pakistan

wi-tribe Pakistan, the group’s largest market to date, was launched in July 2009. With approximately 17.5 million internet users, of which only 0.23% connected with broadband, Pakistan was an ideal target market for wi-tribe.

wi-tribe offers packages with connections speeds varying from 256 Kbps to 1 Mbps. Customers also have the convenience of the ‘my wi-tribe’ portal that allows access to their account from home.

Complimenting wi-tribe’s aspiration to become a paperless company, an internal Data Management Service (DMS) Portal project was initiated prior to launch enabling significant increases in operational efficiency in addition to OPEX savings. Other major green initiatives include replacing diesel generators with rechargeable battery power as a primary backup supply for all WiMAX towers nationwide, reducing fuel expenses, carbon emission and noise pollution.

wi-tribe Pakistan is also a socially conscious organization initiating CSR initiatives to benefit the community at large, primarily focusing on education. One such initiative is the WiMAX R&D lab established at the National University of Science & Technology (NUST), one of Pakistan’s largest and most prominent Technology Institutions. Creating ‘wi-tribe Recyclables’ is another project aimed at reusing all panaflex skins from outdoor campaigns and converting them into durable school bags for underprivileged children within our areas of operation. Recently, wi-tribe sponsored technical students of the University of Punjab (Lahore) allowing them to submit research papers on ‘Curbing Wireless Interferences in WiMAX and GSM’ for IEEE conferences in China and Indonesia.
